This is the first time we get to become real journalists! We were very excited and started to brainstorm possible topics for our multimedia report.
Traditional games, Vesak Day celebrations and Chingay are some of the ideas we came up with. Inspiration struck us and we finally settled on the topic, durian.
Coincidentally, the three of us love durians.
We decided to do a mini ‘Durian for Dummies’ multimedia, which we will introduce what is a durian and how to choose a good durian.
It was a hot and humid early afternoon on the Friday, 13th May when we set off to find durian stalls. We boarded bus 33 at Kallang and went straight to Joo Chiat Place.
Although there were many durian stalls at Joo Chiat Place, most of them were closed as it was early afternoon.
We struck upon our first durian seller, Mr Koh at Durian Lingers. Mr Koh gave us a lot of insights on durian secrets.
We also found Ah Qiang who was getting ready to open his make-shift stall. Ah Qiang allowed us to interview him even though he was busy. Thanks Ah Qiang!
Friendly Ah Qiang gave us discounts and we ate many delicious durians at his stall. Yum Yum!
We then headed back to our ‘headquarters’ and started working on our multimedia show.
We learned valuable skills and durian knowledge through this journalism project. We began this project as durian dummies and ended it as durian experts!
